Don Jacobs Summer Food Drive a Success
Don Jacobs donates more than $26,000 to God's Pantry
September 28, 2008 — Don Jacobs' Summer Food Drive collected 4,749 pounds of food and $6,093 for God's Pantry, a Lexington-based food bank. The total value of all donations was over $13,000, which Don Jacobs matched, for a total of over $26,000. A check was presented to Marian Guinn, God's Pantry CEO, on Wednesday, September 24th at the dealership.
The Summer Food drive was the brainchild of Don Jacobs Controller Linda Morris. "This was a great way for us to give back to the community," said Morris, "And helped to fill in the pre-holiday gap for God's Pantry, when there is usually a downturn in giving."
Don Jacobs provided drop-off points and donation opportunities at summer activities like Thursday Night Live, Ecton Park Jazz series, Evening at Ashland and Artists' Market.
